Recipes for Cooking with Taylor Ham™® or Pork Roll
Instructions for Cooking Taylor’s Pork Roll-Taylor’s Ham on a stove, a grill, even a microwave:
Split only enough of the burlap casing and plastic to be able to roll the case down and cut off as much as you want for one sitting. Cutting too far down could dry out your pork roll, even when you wrap it up to put back in the fridge. Plus, it doesn’t look as cool as the Taylor or Trenton pork roll should. The casing is part of the mystique, which is why buying it in little cardboard boxes kills the true Taylor Ham™® experience. (So they say!)
How you slice it depends on your preference. Some people like it paper thin, and cook it in a frying pan till it’s crispy. Some people cut it thick, and barely warm it up. (Kate of www.jerseyporkroll.com, prefers paper thin slices of well-cooked pork roll.)
Cut little notches, or slices around the edges; 4 cuts should do it. This keeps the slice from curling up when you cook it.
It should look like this right before it hits the frying pan!
Here in Jersey breakfast can consist of a cup of coffee and a buttered hard roll, but real Jersey Boys and Jersey Girls know what a “Triple Bypass Sandwich,” is– Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese on a Hard Roll.
Taylor Ham and Trenton Pork Roll are low carb so they’re Atkins, South Beach, and any low-carb diet friendly.

8 slices well-done pork roll, diced or crumbled
8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup chopped green onions (green part only)
8 oz Ricotta cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 eggs
1/2 pound grated Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup chopped green onions (green part only)
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Thoroughly mix eggs, heavy cream, cream cheese, Ricotta, butter, salt and pepper in a food processor until smooth. Add finely chopped green onions and blend quickly.
Spray a quiche baking dish with oil and pour mixture in. Sprinkle the Taylor Ham evenly on the top and then add the grated cheese over the top. Bake for 50 minutes or until the center springs back to the touch or a knife comes out clean.
Approx 8 servings

Taylor Ham Breakfast Casserole
Made with Taylor Pork Roll, Egg, and Cheese
Serves 6
1 pound of Taylor or Trenton Pork Roll cut into strips
10 slices of bread or 3 cups unseasoned dry stuffing cubes
4 eggs
1 cups milk
1 cup (4 oz.) shredded American or Cheddar cheese
Salt and Pepper to taste (meat is already salted so use sparingly)
Good additions – Onion, Bell Peppers, diced pre-cooked potatoes
Instructions
Cook Taylor Ham until crispy
Cube sliced bread or measure out stuffing cubes.
In a large bowl, beat eggs, stir in milk, and cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste. Blend Taylor Ham and bread into egg mixture. Pour mixture into a greased or sprayed quiche dish or square baking pan, cover, and refrigerate for several hours.
Ready to Use
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Bake uncovered for 30 minutes
Use cake tester or knife to check if the center is done
Serving Suggestions
If don’t have much time in the morning to prepare breakfast, this recipe works well because it is prepared the night before.
1 lb. finely chopped pork roll (or Taylor Ham)
2 hard boiled eggs
4 ounces shredded of your favorite cheese
1 finely chopped onion
2 or more tablespoons mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
Combine the pork roll, eggs, cheese, onion, and anything else you want to try in there except the mayo, into a food processor, or finely chop and thoroughly mix the ingredients. Then stir in enough of the Miracle Whip or mayonnaise to hold it together. Form into patties or spoon onto the bottom half of a roll or bun and place under a broiler or on a grill.
Broil for several minutes and top with more cheese, bacon, onion or whatever your preference is. Much more flavor than in any old hamburger.

2 slices of cooked Pork Roll – (lightly fried)
2 Slices of your favorite bread
2 Slices or 4 oz cheddar cheese – shredded
Sliced Tomato – preferably a Jersey Tomato!
Margarine or non-stick spray
1 thin slice of Onion if desired.
Melt margarine or spray frying pan with non-stick oil for frying.
Place in layers:

tomato
onion
Brown on one side, flip and brown other site until cheese is completely melted.

Slice Taylor Ham™ or pork roll in slices as thick or thin as you prefer. (To cook well inside, don’t slice it thicker than 1/2″)
Brush with honey barbecue sauce, or any sauce of your liking. Here is a recipe for sauce from Tom at www.barbecuelord.com
1 gallon apple cider vinegar
6 oz. salt
1/4 cup chili powder
1/2 cup cayenne powder
Place all ingredients in a stainless pot,
simmer for 1/2 hr
allow to cool before bottling
Grill it.. well done, or just warm, as you like it.
Add condiments of your choice.
Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, etc.
Serve on hamburger buns or hard rolls.

Try this recipe as an open faced sandwich with olives, onions, or any other pizza topping.
Better than pepperoni, no heart-burn! Make your own or buy a frozen pizza. Slice Taylor Ham™® or pork roll very thin and place it on pizza just like you would slices of mushrooms, sausage, or meatballs. It’s better to cut it in strips after you cut it in round slices so it cuts better when you go through the pizza with a wheel cutter. We’re not kidding; it is excellent!

6 oz finely chopped, fried Taylor Pork Roll
12 – 15 Large Mushrooms – take off stems, wash, let drain
1 large onion
4 tablespoons Miracle Whip (if mayonnaise is substituted add 1 teaspoon vinegar or 1/2 lemon juice)
4 oz Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Fry Taylor Pork Roll till crisp, then chop fine.. Chop stems of mushrooms and sautee them in “juice” left over from Taylor Pork Roll until soft.
Mix porkroll, mushroom stems, onion, Miracle Whip, and cheese. Fill mushrooms and place on baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes until cheese is bubbling.

Taylor Ham, Bacon, Tomato, Lettuce, and Cheese

Ingredients:

- Bacon
- Lettuce
- Provolone Cheese
- Mayo
- Honey Mustard
- Salt and Pepper
Grill the Taylor Ham and the bacon.
Add cheese to the Taylor Ham.
Add the mayo, honey mustard, and tomato to a toasted sub roll.
Add the meat and cheese to the roll.
Top it off with lettuce, salt and pepper to taste.

- 1 cup Taylor Ham or Trenton Pork Roll cubed
- 1 pound pasta of your choice
- Cream Sauce – recipe below
Cream Sauce
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 c. whipping cream
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Pre-cook pasta, pre-cook cream sauce, add pork roll and toss all together in a baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for around 30 minutes.

Many people have written in asking about a product called Tastystrips. Apparently they were once made by the same manufacturer as Taylor Ham or Taylor Pork Roll is, and they were a snack food item.

Cut pork roll in rectangular strips instead of circles.
Fry until crisp.
No need for a hard roll or any bread product – just add your favorite dipping ingredient, ketchup, mustard, or anything else you like, and serve.
Kids love them!

- dice some Taylor Ham into little cubes
- fry it up with some red Bell pepper
- add some Walla Walla sweet onion
- add scrambled eggs and toast.

- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 flour tortilla
- 2 oz. shredded Monterey Jack cheese shredded
- 1 oz. chopped onion
- 1 oz. chopped green pepper
- 3 oz. cooked Pork Roll
- 2 oz. favorite spicy tomato base sauce (spaghetti, pizza or enchilada)
- Reserve enough cheese to sprinkle on top before baking
Cover the entire bottom of pan with oil and heat. Add the tortilla, cheese, vegetables, then pork roll.
Cook until the tortilla is browned evenly.
Fold the shell in half and move to a baking pan.
Drizzle tomato sauce on top then sprinkle with cheese.
Bake at 375 degrees until cheese is melted and the tortilla shell is brown on edges.
Garnish with chopped scallions and chopped peppers.
Serve with sour cream and sauce or salsa on the side.
